Jumping into Spring🙌🏾

It has been a frigid and snowfilled winter up here in the Tri-State to say the least. Being mostly stuck at my day job dealing with the cold and snow has taken some time away from the art I want to create. Although, I have stayed productive with the “admin” work (website construction and store setup).

As cumbersome as it is to be behind the computer, it is a necessity if I plan to make a leap forward in my art career.

I have also made some mindset changes over the winter. I have re-visited my thoughts on getting away from social media. I reframed how I can use it as a marketing tool and got rid of my fear of looking desperate. People are going to perceive me how they want to… my job is to just make sure I’m being authentic to myself.

I have given another chance to selling merchandise like clothing online. I am not a fashionista and I have looked down on putting my art on clothing in the past. I now view this subject as another avenue for people to enjoy my art without having to spend a couple thousand on an original piece. I can keep my clothing designs and my original work separate from each other, but also have them work with each other. The more I spread my artwork across different avenues the better the reach.

I have come to the conclusion that being a shy guy, like I am, is going to keep me small. I should be proud of my skills that I have worked so hard for over so many years of my life. I used to be susceptible to people making me feel embarrassed or stupid for TRYING to go after my dreams of being a successful artist.

“Grow up” rings in my mind quite often as words that have been spoken to me by others. This has been said to me by either adults in my life or by “friends”. I will admit I did need some growing up to do because my life was unstable, but now that I have a solid foundation on my own… Hi hater 👋🏾 BYE hater 👋🏾. Thats all that I need to be worried about as a response. Every little step and win I make towards my goals reaffirms that.

With my mindset refreshed and my ducks in a row, I am more than excited for the Spring! I have some great ideas for some spring and summer clothing designs. I am even going to do some custom clothing work where I hand paint some pieces (stay tuned for that 😉).

I am stocking up the spray paint for murals! Man mural painting is by far my favorite. I will be making a video on breaking down how I do murals and how commissioning one works. Clarity is very powerful especially with something like mural work. There can be a lot of moving parts sometimes, and having a process is key.

I am getting back to making short stories and jumping into some comic book/ anime style work. I have a ebb and flow love for creative writing. I have a story that I see so vividly in my head, and almost all of my artwork starts out like a scene from a comic book or movie. Writing also helps me understand myself and pushes my creativity.

Spring time is BISUN Season and boy do I feel like running! I hope to connect with more artists and more of you out there who read this. Chase your dreams and capture them.

Stay in the Light yall✨️🦬⚡️
